Hein Gericke, Europes Number One.
In 1970 the company founder Hein Gericke opened his first
motorbike shop in Düsseldorf. Within a few years the company had developed into the largest
motorcycle dealer in Germany. In 1978 the company branched out into mail order complementing the
shop business which now consisted of 3 shops in the Düsseldorf area. In 1980 the first Hein Gericke
catalogue hot off the press. 100.000 copies were printed in two parts,Technical accessories and
clothing. In 1985 the first tests into the development of textile clothing took place. Under the
banner "The future is lighter, High tech motorbike clothing", alternatives to leather were
researched with success. From that day on they had textile motorbike clothing. In 1987 they already
had over 40 shops in Germany. 1991 saw the spectacular introduction of the "Hiprotec" protection
system onto the market. As a result of continuous development, the range was increased to include
the new Hiprotec generation comfort and sports range, which was voted "Product of the year" in the
UK in 1997. Meanwhile there are 85 shops in Germany and nearly as many abroad. A new partnership deal
with Gore-Tex was made and as of 2001 they were able to offer their customers Gericke products with
